Author Guidelines
How accepted papers are formatted for the GCBS conference proceedings. None of this is required to submit an extended abstract.

The page setup, margins, type sizes, heading levels and reference style below are already applied in the template. Writing in it is faster than checking your document against this page.

General preparation and formatting
- Submit the manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
- Full papers run to 10-15 pages, counting references and appendices.
- Extended abstracts run to 500-1,000 words.
- Set the page to A4 (210 x 297 mm) with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on all four sides.
- Set the body text in Times New Roman 12 pt with 1.5 line spacing throughout.
Title page and front matter
- The paper title goes first: 16 pt, bold, centred, and without abbreviations.
- Author details go on the title page from the start: full names, affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email address.
- The abstract runs to 150-250 words and must state the problem, the methodology, the key findings, and what they imply for cognitive resilience or antifragility.
- List 4 to 6 keywords, separated by commas, for example: Cognitive Fatigue, Structural Equity, Choice Architecture.
Manuscript structure
- Follow the standard academic hierarchy, and leave the headings unnumbered.
- Heading 1, for main sections such as Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion: 14 pt, bold, left-aligned.
- Heading 2, for subsections: 12 pt, bold, left-aligned.
- Heading 3, for sub-subsections: 12 pt, italic, left-aligned.
Tables, figures, and equations
- Embed visual data and mathematical models directly in the text, close to where they are first cited.
- Figures must be at least 300 dpi, with the caption placed below the figure.
- Use standard Word table formats without vertical borders, with the caption placed above the table.
- Build equations in the Word equation editor and number them consecutively, in parentheses, at the right margin.
Citations and references
- GCBS uses APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition style for every citation and reference.
- Cite in the text by the author’s last name and the year of publication, for example (Smith, 2023).
- Place the reference list at the end of the document, alphabetized by the first author’s last name, and include a DOI wherever one exists.
Ethical responsibilities
- Manuscripts must be original work that has not been published before and is not currently submitted anywhere else.
- Every submission is screened for plagiarism.
Publication status and indexing
- Accepted papers are published in the conference proceedings, the official academic record of the conference, which gives every contribution a citable publication.
- GCBS plans to publish the proceedings itself: an ISSN for the series, an ISBN for each annual volume, and a DOI for every paper, so that each contribution has a permanent citation link.
- Only the DOI has been guaranteed. ISSN and ISBN have not been granted yet.
- Self-published proceedings are generally discoverable through Google Scholar and Crossref.
- GCBS will not prevent you from publishing your work elsewhere later. Note that we ask for the full paper, which appears in the proceedings, so check your target journal's policy on prior publication before submitting.
These guidelines are issued by the GCBS editorial committee, which handles formatting, final PDF preparation, copy-editing, and compilation of the proceedings.
